Ballet
For Ages 2-5. This 45 minute, once-a-week
class is on Mondays (11-11:30 for under 5s) and Tuesdays (2:45-3:30
for 5 and up). The emphasis is on Ballet, Creative Dance, Tap and
Jazz. They learn coordination, self discipline, listening and retention.
Price of tuition includes a pink shirt and stir-up pants which the
girls can wear to school, so they don’t have to change. Registration
form is attached.
Dave Grove Soccer
For ages 2 ½ and up.
This 30 minute, once a week class has several classes on Thursday.
The 12:00-12:30 class is for 2 ½-4 yr old students not in
Lunch Bunch, the 12:30-1:00 class is for 2 ½-4 yr old Lunch
Bunch students only, and the 3:15-4pm class is for students ages
5 and up. The classes are designed to develop motor skills, promote
physical fitness, create self-confidence, and promote fun while
learning soccer. A T-shirt is provided and kids must wear tennis
shoes. Registration form is attached.
Juanita Bellavance Keyboard & Musik Garten Lessons
Musik
Garten is for ages 2 ½-4, and Keyboard is for ages 6-9. These
45 minute, once-a-week classes have several dates: Keyboard Classes
are offered on: Tuesday at 3:45-4:30, Wednesday at 3:15-4:00 or Wednesday
at 4:00-4:45, while Music Garten Class is only offered on Wednesday
at 2:30-3:15. Juanita is also trying to determine if there is interest
in a class on Tuesdays at 4:00-4:45. If you are interested, please
email: info@academymusicschool.com. Music classes assist in creating
more neutral pathways in the brain of the child than almost any other
subject. They learn timing, solo singing, melody patterns, improvisation,
and much more through keyboard, percussion and barred instruments.
The lessons are taught in a group setting which is much more fun
for the children with no pressure of a recital by one person only.
They do the recital as a group and the kids learn a lot more in this
setting. Registration form is attached.
Steve Edwards: Ballroom Dancing
For ages
4-12. This 45 minute, once-a-week class is on Tuesday (3:15-4:00).
Children learn how to dance with a partner, dance individually, and
as a group. They learn etiquette, respect, discipline, manners, social
skills, body awareness, rhythm, and music appreciation – skills
that will last a lifetime. Unfortunately, Steve could not attend
the meeting; however, Kathy Sexton gave a testimonial about her son’s
participation in the class and says he thoroughly enjoyed it. Registration
form is attached.
Laura Skinner: Girl Scouts
For girls ages
5-17. The Girl Scouts would like to get a troop or two started at
Ivy League – a merged
Daisy/Brownie troop ages 5-8 (up to 3rd grade) is in the works, and
if older children are interested, another leader would be needed.
Girl Scouts is a leadership organization; their motto is “discover
+ connect + take action = leadership.” There are two sets
of materials: Journeys which is focused on community involvement
and a badge book where girls do activities to earn try-its or badges.
For anyone interested in Girl Scouts, please contact Dawn McCloskey
(770-844-5752) who is interested in starting a Daisy/Brownie troop.
She would need another mom to be a co-leader which involves leadership
training that can be done in person or at home on-line. More information
will follow.
